Thinking of an Oblivion Install

Postby Dragon Wench » Thu Dec 22, 2011 4:09 pm

As a part of periodically distracting myself from the various RL issues I am dealing with, I decided to reinstall Oblivion, and I am hoping people will be able to tell me if there are any egregious conflicts in my planned mod list. I know you can do separate installs and such to test compatibility... and under normal circumstances this is exactly what I would do.. but right now my time and energy levels are a bit restricted.. ;)

I have included the urls, both for my own convenience and also for anybody who wants to easily look them up.

Thus far here is my intended mod list, I don't think, for sanity's sake, that I will be adding to it too extensively, but suggestions and advice are always appreciated :)

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe:
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion;
I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate.
All those moments ... will be lost ... in time ... like tears in rain.

This has been superseded (in many users' opinions) by Auto Update Leveled Items and Spells.

If compatibility is a major factor, then I'd go with Fran's. Which isn't to say that Oscuro's is incompatible with a lot, just that it takes fair amount of working around. If you do go with Fran's, consider the Armamentarium for Francescos. Otherwise, consider the Armamentarium Complete.

That auto update mod looks great Fable, thanks for the link! The Armamentarium looks intriguing as well, though I'm wondering if the armours there would work for me since I use Robert's female body and it tends to be less widely supported...

As to magic, I had considered Midas Magic...
I'd be open to suggestions though.

Midas Magic is very good, and as far as I know doesn't conflict with other magic systems.

Morte's going to be a long while because my tests didn't go very well today. I wound up with a naked man with no head and a disembodied eyeball. I may have to make him a creature, but Emma mentioned that creatures don't have dialog options. :crying: We'll see.

Well.. that would certainly create an interesting contrast to Vilja.... :P

Seriously, sorry to hear you are experiencing complications. Since I doubt Morte will be a complicated install once you are eventually able to release him, I'll just make sure I remain abreast of how its going. :)
Good luck! I hope you are able to resolve problems.

My magical system preferences are for Supreme Magicka (just read the long description to see what it adds--and the nice thing is that it comes with an INI file that lets you customize what gets in, and what doesn't), and Less Annoying Magic Experience. They work well together, which is the way I use them, but each does fine on its own, too. I've heard good things about Midas Magic, but have never used it.

Ruined Tail's Tale is a good quest mod that gives you a companion. Haven't played it through, yet, though.

An alternative for levelling is oblivion xp, been quite fond of that one my self, even if it skyrocket with an addon to get xp from adult mods :o

Imperial Counsil from Giskard adds a lot,missions/qusts and a rank in the imperie, some nice features there,he hangs a bit at uesp afaik,at least he did.

Then of course Blood and Mud, love that mod, particulary what it does with Bravil,
Happens I leave the quest-part and just use the new town as it is.
Villages from Arthmoor is nice, the frostcrag one comes with a few quest to it,fun quests too,and it fits since I use Frostcrag spire.

I don't usually say negative things about mods, but I would suggest avoid this one. It replaces essential files, so that mod de-installation often causes problems. In addition, there are a number of progress pathways that are broken, resulting in no forward movement, and no workaround. It is also a huge draw on resources, and Giskard has left the modding scene after first giving the finger to anybody who ever complained to him about anything.

Not good.

Don´t feel to discuss that any further, but you have a point.
Dragon Captions have done or redone the resourcepack for it,might help a bit, admit I played elder counsil with not much besides it and it worked then.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24279 -dcrp

But maybe better if I keeped my mouth shut, and I used the dc-versions of it linked above.
