[Neildarkstar actually started this topic in the Morrowind section. I'm placing this as an Announcement, here, to make the info available to, perhaps, a wider audience].
I decided to post this in two separate intallments (since the first is rather lengthy).
Yesterday, an announcement was made on the Official Bethsoft Forums about the Planet Elder Scrolls (PES) site --
"Just as a headsup: at the end of April I probably won't be able to support the site anymore. IGN has laid off all their technical staff, so there is no technical support for us anymore. I will try to get a solution in place to continue supporting large files, but you might have to work with the Fileplanet upload system for that. I'll post an announcement on the site about it later this month."
"1st of May. I won't physically shut anything down then, but new mods won't be approved anymore. Mod updates are fine (because it's self service), and for large files I'll probably link back to Fileplanet. Sorry for the bad news - not much that can be done at this point."
Suffice it to say, the Morrowind Modding Community became quite agitated at this news.
At least one modder has already deleted all of his/her files from PES, and is looking for another host site.
Recently, APY ("Mr. PES") posted these clarifications --
PES will NOT shut down on May 1.
But, IGN is no longer providing reliable technical support, AND
APY will end his involvement with PES, and is looking for someone to replace him, for such tasks as approving new content and (manually) adding large files.
There is an extensive discussion of this topic on the Official Bethsoft Forum, for anyone interested.
The second part of this message will be directed to, and about, Tealpanda
